Highgrove Cottage
Holiday House in Kirstenhof with Great Terrace and Great View
Our Highgrove Cottage sits right on the border between Kirstenhof and Tokai, directly across from the Blue Route Mall. Tokai is one of Cape Town's leafy southern suburbs in the Cape's oldest wine region, the Constantia Valley. The infrastructure in Tokai is first class, shopping malls, gas stations and restaurants are all "just around the corner". From the house, it is only a few meters to the Steenberg Golf Club and some of South Africa's most famous wineries, such as Steenberg Estate, Groot Constantia and Buitenverwachting.
From here it is not far to...
large shopping centres (Blue Route Mall, Constantia Emporium and Constantia Village), several golf clubs (e.g. Steenberg, 3 km away) and the famous Constantia Wine Route with its numerous excellent restaurants. White sandy beaches and the centre of Cape Town with all its attractions such as the V&A Waterfront, various museums and theatres, the Cape Malay district, the Parliament, Companies Garden, the cable car to the Table Mountain plateau, the Newlands Rugby Stadium and various markets can be found within max. 30 minutes of driving time can be reached. And this list could be extended indefinitely!
Highgrove Cottage: 92sqm semi-detached in gated community, living room with open plan kitchen (kitchen bar), 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, patio, secure parking
The semi-detached house stands on a 200 square meter plot, which is part of a secured residential complex with 60 semi-detached houses and terraced houses. Parking for two vehicles is available directly in front of the house. Behind the house, a patio with a 6-seater dining table, sun loungers and parasols as well as flower beds invites you to relax and have a barbecue with friends.
The "Security Estate" is guarded day and night and access is controlled at the front gate. Access is only possible with an electronic key or after checking identity papers and proof of authorization.
Directly opposite the Highgrove Estate is a petrol station and the large, recently refurbished shopping centre, the Blue Route Mall, which houses a wide range of retail outlets, major chain stores and a Checkers Supermarket, as well as well-known fast-food restaurants.
The practical semi-detached house is located a short distance from Steenberg Golf Estates and Tokai Forest. It includes a living/TV room with a comfortable seating area and 143 cm curved smart TV, a kitchen equipped with high-quality appliances in an open room design to the separate dining room, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms as well as a storage and utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, everything in the basement of the two-storey house.
The master bedroom is furnished with two extra-length single beds (separate or joined) and an en-suite bathroom. The second bathroom only has no bathtub available. This bathroom is located between the two smaller bedrooms, both of which have a queen-size bed. All furniture is new or in very good condition.
Constantia itself is one of the poshest parts of Cape Town. The lovely landscape makes you forget that you are in the immediate vicinity of a big city. The villas are surrounded by park-like gardens, some also have paddocks and vineyards.
On the Constantia Valley Wine Route, you can get to know the famous wineries in the green valley of Constantia. Groot Constantia was founded in 1685 and given to the first governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel, as an experimental farm for agricultural products, who mainly developed viticulture here and made Constantia wine world-famous. In 1925 the Cape Dutch mansion burned down completely. After its reconstruction, it now houses a museum that gives an insight into the life of the first Cape settlers. A walk across the extensive estate is worthwhile simply because of the great view of the Constantia Valley.
A stone's throw away is Klein Constantia Wineries, famous for its white wines, Constantia Uitsig and Buitenverwachting, home to one of Cape Town's most exclusive restaurants. The access via an avenue lined with mighty oaks is an experience.
On the way to Hout Bay, you will pass the new, very exclusive wineries that have produced world-class wines in recent years: Constantia Glen, Eagles Nest and Beau Constantia. At the end of the valley is the renowned Steenberg winery. In the early 1990s, a world-class 18-hole golf course and a top restaurant were built here.
Leisure:
Helicopter tours, skydiving, paragliding, shark diving, racetracks, city tours, museums, concerts, jazz bars, and wine tasting at the 11 Constantia Valley wineries; some in breathtaking views.
Shopping:
Ideal, it couldn't be better, in the "Constantia Village" shopping centre (with petrol station) 3 minutes away, in the new Constantia Emporium (0.8 km) or in the Blue Route Mall in Tokai. Supply of wines from the region directly on-site at cellar prices from the wineries.
Sports:
Swimming, sailing, tennis, golf (two excellent golf courses 8 and 10km away), kiting, surfing, dune surfing, climbing, horseback riding, hiking, and jogging.
Restaurants:
In our vicinity, there are numerous good and some excellent restaurants and pubs, such as the steakhouses "Cattle Baron" and "Hussar Grill" with the "Best Steaks in Town", "Old Town Italy" with delicious Italian food and one great terrace as well as "Chef's Warehouse" and "La Colombe", two of the top 10 restaurants in South Africa.
